The Confessions of Frannie Langton

The Confessions of Frannie Langton by Sara Collins

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Gothic fiction at its most dark and disturbing. In fact this really did disturb me. Everything about it was horrifying. The triple oppression of the West Indian gay woman. The pompous and cruel male domination experienced by all the women in the novel. The terrifying scientific experiments that far exceeded my imagination. The mad woman in the attic. I haven’t read anything like this since my literature degree. Hated it but couldn’t put it down. It was compulsive reading.
