Brighton v Leicester. Sunday 4th September.

Amex Stadium, Falmer.

“The thing about football
the important thing
about football – is that
it is not just about football.” Terry Pratchett.

A hot Sunday afternoon in September saw a resounding 5-2 win to home team Brighton. Controversial VAR aside, it was uplifting to see old and young, singles and couples and loads of families all united in enjoying the beautiful game.

Anne: One mother’s story.

A British four-part drama revolving around the 1989 Hillsborough football disaster of 1989, where a human crush resulted in the deaths of 97 Liverpool football club fans. It’s the story of  campaigner Anne Williams’ battle for justice for her son Kevin, who died at the disaster.

To this day, almost 33 years later, no one has been held accountable for this disaster and subsequent cover-ups.

Robbie Savage: Making Macclesfield. BBC Sport.

I’m a relative late comer to the beautiful game, although my dad was a life long Southampton supporter. I love a feel good football story and Robbie Savage and local businessman Rob Smethurst created a great one when Rob brought Macclesfield FC and with Robbie put the club back on the football league map.

Macclesfield FC currently sit top of the North West Counties Football League Premier Division.

Football.

I think the best place to work in football is England.

From Premier League (Southampton, Brighton and Leicester City) to the Isthmian League Division One South (Lewes) down to East Midlands Counties League (Barrow Town) football unites our country and our sense of national identity.
