The Beekeeper of Aleppo

The Beekeeper of Aleppo by Christy Lefteri

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was written from the authors experience of working with refugees in Athens. It is a narrative about the horror and desperation of war. Of being driven out of your own country, a country that you love with all your heart. Of leaving behind family and friends- those still alive and those that have been killed. Of the dangerous journeys’ taken to escape to a life that the refugees can’t even imagine. Of having no choice but to rely on other people- some good , some bad- of literally putting yours and your families lives and futures in their hands. Underlying this utter sadness the bees of Aleppo and of England provide continuity with the past and hope for the future.
