The Understudy by David Nicholl



My rating: 3 of 5 stars


l liked the bitter sweetness of The Understudy. The fact that things sort of went OK, but not quite. At the end Stephen C. McQueen did get his girl, but without the syrupy sweetness that usually accompanies a story. A ‘happy ever after- maybe’. Realism at its best, as always with David Nicholls.
